A multidisciplinary Scientist team of ICAR Manipur Centre comprising of Dr. Kh. Rishikanta Singh, Dr. Arati Ningombam, Dr Ayam Gangarani Devi, Dr. T. Basanta Singh and Dr. Ch. Premabati Devi organised the Khet Bachao Abhiyan at Khurkhul Makha Leikai Community, Imphal West district Manipur. During the programme the farmers were informed about the need and importance on balance and judicious use of fertilizer; the use of organic manure, biofertilizer and green manuring as an alternative for chemical fertilizer. The management of field and horticultural crops along with important government schemes beneficial to the farmers like PK Kisan, etc were also highlight during the programme. RC Manichakhao -1, the first black rice variety developed by ICAR Manipur Centre were also distributed to the farmers participants. A total of 36 Schedule Caste women farmers attended the programme.
